Editorial objective

Tourism Review aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of tourism as an interdisciplinary phenomenon and to provide insights into developments, issues and methods in tourism research. As the official journal of AIEST, the International Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism, it promotes an exchange of scientific concepts and research findings across different cultures and language barriers as well as serving as a platform of results, in particular, for young researchers.

The journal is targeted at a broad audience including scientists as well as policymakers and managers.

Editorial criteria

The editors and members of the editorial board encourage articles that:

develop an enhanced understanding of tourism as an interdisciplinary phenomenon
provide a deepened understanding of methods used in tourism research (both quantitative and qualitative)
present clear results that are accessible to scientists and practitioners alike
provide relevant results for scientists and their further research, politicians and managers

The main criteria for selecting contributions include:

originality of approach (theoretical and/or methodological contributions)
relevancy of results to academics or practitioners or preferably both

Scope/Coverage

Tourism Review provides original, creative, multidisciplinary contributions on:

aspects of tourism demand (consumer behaviour) and its development in a socio-economic context
managing and marketing tourism products and services in a destination network with its social, ecological and economic interrelations
markets and its institution in transition

Key benefits

Readers of Tourism Review are challenged with a multifaceted approach to the "tourism" phenomenon through the topics addressed and, on occasion, by the geographic denomination of its papers. As the official journal of AIEST, Tourism Review seeks to prompt discussion across disciplines and research streams on a global level. It further aims to link the world of scholars and practitioners together by providing an insight into pressing issues in one or both of these worlds.
