I have been working as a proofreader, editor and copy writer since 2006. I specialize in business and academic work, and can offer particular expertise in areas including marketing and business, social sciences and arts and humanities. I have a great deal of experience of working with both native and non-native English speakers, editing everything from papers for international journals to doctoral dissertations, as well as conference papers, fiction and non-fiction books, corporate documents and more.
I always work to preserve the integrity of your personal style and ensure your own voice remains intact throughout the editing process. In addition to ironing out mistakes and inconsistencies in terms of spelling, grammar, syntax and consistency, I will draw attention to any other issues or areas that may require clarification or further explanation.
I am able to edit to house style, and am highly proficient in referencing styles including Harvard, APA and MHRA.
I love the work I do and always try to take a flexible and communicative approach, which has helped me to build great relationships with my clients.

Background

In addition to my editorial and proofreading experience, I have worked for several large companies including IBM UK, Santoro Graphics and PricewaterhouseCoopers, primarily in marketing roles. I also have a great deal of experience of working with publishing houses, authors, societies and professional institutes of all shapes and sizes, charities and a wide variety of individuals.
I hold a degree in English, and have undergone formal training in copy editing from The Publishing Training Centre. My personal writing has also won awards.
